Goodsoil’s history

Goodsoil became a village on 1 January 1960. It sits in the Rural Municipality of Beaver River No. 622 in northwestern Saskatchewan, and its Goodsoil Historical Museum Site, dating from about 1932 to 1945, is a municipal heritage property listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places.

Today Goodsoil is known as the western gateway to Meadow Lake Provincial Park, Saskatchewan's largest provincial park. The park boundary lies about a kilometre north of the village, and its more than 25 lakes draw visitors for boating, camping, fishing and swimming. Eight kilometres west of town, Northern Meadows Golf Club offers an 18-hole championship course on the northern shore of Bousquet Lake.

Goodsoil is also the hometown of Ron Greschner, who played in the NHL for the New York Rangers from 1974 to 1990.
